Advanced Welder Courses

Our 900-hour program is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the welding industry. This comprehensive program covers essential welding techniques, starting with Oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, expanding into welding processes including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).

WELD101: Introduction to Welding and Safety

This foundational course introduces students to the principles of welding, including shop safety, intro to welding terminology, and provides students with a high-level overview of the welding industry. Students will gain hands-on experience with various welding processes and equipment, preparing them for more advanced courses.

CNTG101: Oxy fuel Cutting

Students will learn the fundamentals of thermal cutting processes, including oxyfuel cutting (OFC), and safety practices associated with cutting operations. This course provides the essential skills to prepare materials for welding and fabrication.

CTNG102: Plasma Arc Cutting and Air Carbon Arc Cutting

Building on Cutting 101, this course covers advanced cutting methods, focusing on precision and efficiency. Students will refine their skills with plasma cutting, perform rework preparation with CAG and complete complex cutting patterns to simulate field applications.

NDT101: Welding Inspection

In this course students will learn the fundamentals of visual and non-destructive weld testing. They will be introduced to weld gauges and inspection tools, as well as learn about applicable codes for welding including AWSD1.1 and ASME Section IX.

DRAW101: Weld Symbols, Drawings, and Math

This course teaches the fundamentals of interpreting and understanding welding blueprints, symbols, and fabrication drawings. Students will learn how to read and apply measurements, tolerances, and layout specifications for accurate welding and assembly.

GMAW/FCAW 101: Gas Metal & Flux-Cored Arc Welding

An introduction to GMAW and FCAW welding processes, this course emphasizes proper equipment setup, welding techniques, and troubleshooting common issues. Students will develop skills to produce quality welds on various materials and joint types. Students will take open root v-groove qualification tests in the 3G and 4G positions.

SMAW101: Shielded Metal Arc Welding

Students will gain a solid foundation in SMAW (stick welding), learning electrode selection, arc control, and joint preparation techniques. The course emphasizes skill development for producing strong welds on steel and other ferrous materials. Students will take qualification tests in the 3G and 4G positions.

GTAW101: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

This course introduces the precision welding process of GTAW (TIG), focusing on technique, equipment setup, and materials preparation. Students will take qualification tests in the 3G and 4G position.

GTAW301: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding on Carbon Steel Pipe

This elective is designed for face paced students and those new to pipe welding, this course covers the basics of pipe preparation, alignment, and welding techniques. Students will practice welding pipe joints in various positions, preparing them for industry standards and certifications.
